Eclipse produces error and won't start

I had eclipse running on 10.10. I upgraded to 11.04 and when I try running it I get:

An error has occurred. See the log file

I'm using the eclipse package from the 11.04 repos.

Please move or remove the ~/.eclipse directory and try again.

Deleting under /eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/.manager can help too but ... the existing workspace settings would be lost. Eclipse Juno.

deleting /eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/.manager is what worked for me
