How do I install EasyTAG?

Asked by nickinkent

How do I install this program. I have read various ideas and tried a number of method but with no positive result. I have found easytag on the web but my system don't seem to like the copies I chose for it. I have tried the add/remove program. I searched and searched but could not find it. Can anyone out there suggest anything? I would be very grateful.

It's hard to say because you don't tell us which OS and which version you use? Ubuntu/Kubuntu? 8.04, 8.10?

If you use a debian base system it's really easy:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install easytag

Perhaps you have to active the universe repo
System -> Administration -> Software Sources

yes - it is.

second possibility would be to start synaptic (system-administration-synaptic), if u right-click on easytag u should choose mark for installation, afterwards click on the green apply symbol and it will install.

good luck

Thank you for your help: it did not work. I got "command not found". I tried cd to investigate. I got "no such file or directory". I think ubuntu and I need to spend a little time together and get to know one another.

I installed it by clicking on Program->Add/Remove Programs. Waited for the program to start. Chose "Show all available programs" and then wrote "easytag" in the search field. Easytag appeared, I clicked the small box next to it, hit "Apply" And now it's installed!

Hope it works for you, Good Luck!

Hi Mattias, tried that earlier but for some reason easytag is not in there. Don't know why. I solved the prob. by using an other program that dose tagging and solve my problem for now. I will come back to this when i understand ubunto better.

Hi mr bumble

Strange, according to Ubuntus package system (http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/easytag) it should be there. There is a filter next to the search box. If that is changed to "Show all available programs" instead of "Show supported programs" is should appear. Good luck!
