Please substitute latest EasyTAG in repository

Asked by Rowan Berkeley

A long standing bug made EasyTAG much slower to use for people whose preference is lower case titling. The conversion to lower case did not work. But it was fixed by the developer in his build 2.2.6. So can we have this instead of 2.2.4, please?

I suggest you report a bug. If the security and bug fixes are significant then the version will be updated.

I exchanged emails with the develop this morning and he said: "Ubuntu is slow at updating packages, and rarely does so other than for serious fixes in released versions." This is evidently true. I think it is unfortunate. In fact, it is unfortunate enough to make me consider leaving Ubuntu for something more fault-free.

Ubuntu is aimed at newcomers to Linux. Stability is champion over the latest packages. If a package is known to be without issue then time will be spent improving those that do. This gives a solid desktop experience. This is especially true in the LTS releases.

If you wnat packages bang up to date then a rolling release (which will be less stable) will be more suited to your needs.
