Asked by Vikas Bhasin on 2008-05-02

Getting a error message like:

1) E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
2) E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

When try to log in through console not able to configure the DPKG.

Vojtěch Trefný suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #52: “Can't install new software and updates”.

Just open terminal (Applications→Accesories→Terminal) and type "sudo dpkg --configure -a" (without quotation marks).

Thanks Trefny for your response, But its not working . Its is asking for the superuser privileges.
updation does go down well.
my printer also not working and USB drive not able to find.
Full package not been to download, I guess.

Have to do the update all over again.

"Its is asking for the superuser privileges."
