This bug was fixed in the package dpkg - 1.15.8.5ubuntu2

  * debian/rules: Disabled compiler optimizations on arch "armel" (LP: #674146)
    This is a temporary work-around until we can identify the cause of the
    stack corruption and subsequent SIGSEGV.
