for precise?

Asked by Liam Staskawicz

I'm trying to determine the best way to get installed on precise.

Is there a reason not to continue packaging current doxygen versions for that release?

Is there another repository that makes later versions available to previous releases?

Thanks very much.

Only developers know when and IF this package will be upgraded in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. We are not developers in here.

Do you know how to install from source ?

You can download the latest package source code from here

and try to install from source.

I didn't find a PPA.

Sure, I can install from source, but that's just a pain for when I inevitably upgrade in the future :)

Is there an appropriate location to ask about whether a more recent version of this application will be packaged for precise?

Thanks very much,

You can report a bug with a [query] prefix or something similar. A bug to doxygen developers.. I gave you the Launchpad page above.

doxygen has been packaged for Ubuntu Raring.

In some cases downloading the package for a higher Ubuntu release and manually installing in on an older system works well, but you have to be aware that such attempt might also fail miserably by breaking dependencies in your package management.
A quick check does not show any hard-to-fulfill dependencies, so you really might give it a try.

And of course creating a request for backporting that version from raring to precise is also an option.
