I'm using Dolphin 0.6.0 (Using KDE 3.5.5) in Ubuntu 6.10 with Gnome 2.16.1.

Any file that starts with a dot (period / full stop) is a hidden file. If you choose to show hidden files then you're going to see them. I don't know dolphin but I suspect that it holds the individual settings you have maintained about each folder in those hidden files. If you don't want to see them then choose not to view hidden files in the "view properties" dialog in dolphin.

True. Still it could put those tiny 17 byte files in a central storage file; I'll ask the developer.
