DNSCrypt-proxy not working

Asked by Sunny

Connexion refused with DNSCrypt-proxy installed from official package.

Here's details:
https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/discussions/2178

Is the workaround found by modifying /usr/lib/systemd/system/dnscrypt-proxy.socket an acceptable solution ?

AFAIK ubuntu's package is not made the same than original dnscrypt-proxy for example empty listen_adresses in conf file.

Thank you.

Report the issue to the git owner. They can then update their code to make this fly

As you can see there https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/1394#issuecomment-652442060 ubuntu packages may be differ from official release by ubuntu package maintainer.
Plus official release maintainer told that he is not aware of those modifications https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/discussions/2178#discussioncomment-3387830
That's the reason I asked here, it's specific to ubuntu package.

None of the version umbers of the package in Ubuntu, 2.0.45+ds1-1, 2.0.31+ds1-1, 1.9.5-1build1 and 1.6.1-1 contains the word "ubuntu". This indicates that the package has been copied from Debian, without any Ubuntu-specific modification.

If you have a question about the difference between the package in Ubuntu and the upstream source, then you better ask at Debian in such case.

see also https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/dnscrypt-proxy

There is already a bug report, which look somewhat related to your issue, https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=962633 or maybe some other one in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=dnscrypt-proxy

This is a real hot potato and I don't understand how broken debian package just lands into stable LTS Ubuntu package.
Thanks anyway.
