Raid5 in Kubuntu

Asked by rrchandrakmpati

HI , I have 80GB disk, where I installed Kubuntu 10.04, Now I bought four SATA disks each of 1TB. I want to install them as Raid5. I made these 4 disks as Raid5 in boot setup, but when I look at /dev/mapper, I did not find Raid part. Could you please help me to get work with hardware Raid5 in Kubuntu.

Thankyou,

Note: before the installation of kubuntu on 80GB, I try to install kubuntu on Raid5 partition, unfortunately it did work.

When you say "in boot setup" do you mean in the bios fakeraid screen? If so you need to go back into the screen and destroy that set, and not use fakeraid. Instead use the alternate install cd and build a software mdadm based raid-5 array. dmraid basically does not support raid-5 yet.

Can you help with this problem?
