Can you please post the output of the 'lsusb' and 'df -h' commands issued from terminal when the cam is plugged
in?
Thanks,

Here's what I get when I type 'lsusb' in Konsole.

Ok, it seems as though its detecting your digital cam, I assume you have the cam switched to the view mode rather than camera mode to download pictures from it? If it is switched to that mode and still not detecting the camera, then we can take additional steps to get it working.

That's right, I've got the camera switched to the view mode when hooking it up to the laptop. As soon as I plug in the camera digiKam starts up but then I get a connection failed pop-up and when I retry it's the same thing.

i had this same issue, i was turning the camera on, switched to view mode, then plugged in. pc recognized it was there, but digikam would give me this error. however, if i plugged in the camera first, then powered it on, digikam would pick it right up. i can't remember if i already had digikam launched when i powered it on, but it would not work for me if the camera was already powered on before i plugged it in.

Thank you Dewain Riddle, digiKam is currently downloading pictures as I type. The trick I guess was to start the the camera after connecting. But, now all the pictures from this Christmas are on the machine, and I'm another step closer to not needing this hard drive partitioned and split between Ubuntu and windows.

Again thanks.
