Not able to email pictures from digikam using thunderbird

I have changed my default email client to Thunderbird in the Email Images Options and when I select the photo, I get a dialogue box telling me to close the box after emailing my photo. A blank message opens and in the attachment area, there is some text "Before%20%" and the Id of the photo but as soon as I try to send the email, I get an error message about my temporary file.
Could anyone explain what I might be doing wrong please?

After updates and a reboot, this problem seems to have resolved itself. Clicking on "email" in DigiKam results in TB opening and attaching the files rather than text.
