"--timeout" option of command "dialog"

Asked by r0mulux

"--timeout" option of command "dialog" seems to be ignored on Ubuntu 22.04. It was working on Ubuntu 20.04.

Command example : dialog --timeout 2 --inputbox "test" 20 60

On Ubuntu 20.04: command exits after 2 seconds when no input is provided
On Ubuntu 22.04: command never exits.

Is it a bug or behavior has changed ?

For diagnostic purposes please provide the output that you receive for the following commands (to be executed in a terminal window):

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
apt policy dialog
which dialog
dialog --version
