Is dhcdbd a deprecated package in Intrepid?

Hi all,
 Is dhcdbd a deprecated package in Intrepid? For I get it listed in the system-cleaner-gtk.

If its deprecated/cruft, what is the new package which gives the same functionality

Using 3.0-4ubuntu3 version.

There seems to be something called dhcpcd although the description is different.

Description: DHCP client for automatically configuring IPv4 networking
 Simple configuration: supports executions of a script when the IP address changes.

 Just found out it is deprecated, now network-manager does also this stuff
