dvd-rom problems

i recently downloaded the sims cast away but i can not play it i get these errors it says Direct3d returned a error: D3dERR-iNVALID CALL! THIS APP WILL NOW TERMINATE. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM NOW?

When you insert ANY optical media it will mount automagically to /media/cdrom0 and will show an icon on the desktop

It doesnt run.
