need help in formatting and burning downloaded movies.

how do i get mp4 videos or any videos for that matter to burn from brasero?iam new to ubuntu and i really need a simple answer if i can

Do you just want to burn the files to CD, or are you looking to convert these films to DVD so you can watch on a stand alone player?
If the latter - there are a few tools to help - try tovidgui (apt-get install tovidgui) which will help in preparing DVDs.
Only problem I've experienced is that with some files the audio and video get out of sync during the conversion process - this doesn't occur with all files though.

Check out DeVeDe. It has a nice GUI and is very easy to use.

To install:
sudo apt-get install devede

A quick google search gave me this webpage that has instructions on how to use it:
