Deluge - TCP port 6881 closed on xx.xx.xxx.xx

Asked by wmlooi

Hi,

I'm just installed Deluge 0.5.2 in Ubuntu 7.04. When I tried to test the active port under Deluge preferences -> Network, I get the below results.

TCP port 6881 closed on xx.xx.xxx.xx

UDP port 6881 open on xx.xx.xxx.xx

Could somebody pls tell me how to open the TCP port 6881? I tried to open the port using the below command from terminal but no luck to make it works. Also, how to setup the port forwarding for Deluge?

sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 6881 -j ACCEPT

Fyi, I have a Aztech DSL605E router and Firestarter installed.

Appreciate your help.
Thanks.

You will probably have to go into the router's settings and set up port forwarding. I'm not familiar with that router but generally you access a setup page and then look for something about applications or forwarding. Fill in the port number and the IP address of the computer you want to forward too. You will probably need to set up IP table to accept traffic on that port too. If you already did that then it's probably an issue with the router.

This could be a few things, most likely it has to do with your router, but could also be your provider. If it is just your router, I was looking at Deluge and it says that it supports uPnP which would automatically forward the ports on our router, not sure if this is enabled by default(I use ktorrent) but you should check the settings. Most routers support uPnP, and it is usually enabled by default, but you can also check this on your router. As far as forwarding the ports on your router, you can check out http://portforward.com as they will have directions for your model, or one close to it. The final issue could be your ISP, some ISPs are known to block all incoming ports by default, usually to prevent people from running servers, or they chalk it up to security. Usually you can get them to change it for you.

I got the exact same problem... and I've configured my router fine. (I also tried with UPnP, just in case i was doing something wrong). I strongly think that is a configuration or something in ubuntu that I can't find.

Some days before the installation of my router I had made an internet connection sharing using this guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=91370. Is there a connection between them? (I also removed dnsmasq and ipmasq, I thought it might help)

Any help would be appriciated. Thanx in advance.

Can you help with this problem?
