Manually set mirror/http/proxy string

Asked by Stavros Lagos

Hello,
I am trying to have my preseed file to ask for mirror/http/proxy string value during installation as my proxy server gets a dynamic IP address depending on the network I am installing my distro. I tried to work around that problem by enabling avahi daemon (Depending on my DNS server domain could be .local / .lan or whatever DNS choose to). I have tried to enable NETBIOS name through SAMBA, but itt fails to resolve NETBIOS names during installation. I thought that it could be a good idea to have user manually put the IP address of the proxy.
Any ideas are welcome.

Use BASH variables and the export command. Can you add these to your file?

I am not sure that I can use shell script in a preseed file. Also I am not sure I can use variables too. It would have been a solution though if I could.
