Dash Home not displaying any Apps

I am a new user to Ubuntu but for the last few weeks Dash Home would display Apps, Files and Folders, but now is only displaying Files and Folders, and when I select Apps from the pull down menu search for Apps is displayed but nothing can be found.

Being novice i don't know all the names of the apps I have, so need an easy way to be able to see them all and select the one I require. I was doing this by typing the letter 'a' into the search line and it would display most of my Apps, but not now.

Sorry please disregard, having shutdown and re-started my system everything is back to normal.
