Printer network-how to secure

Asked by meow

Hi

I just installed a epson printer but im not sure how secure it is.

First off i only connect the printer via usb cable directly to my pc but i still get 'connected to local host' http://img683.imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img683/2019/screenshotqi.png .What is local host?

Do i have to configure the gufw firewall to allow any special rules? (am using the default deny all at the moment). For apparmor i understand that common unix printing services is enabled by default (will this default setting stop my printer from being used to attack my home folder/system files?

Local host is your own PC

If you dont specifically allow remote access to your printer server only localhost is able to reach it

Ok I dont have the printer remotely enabled to a server.

But will i be safe with the guwf firewall as default deny all and apparmour default cups profile?

You should certainly be safe with that setup.
