Karmic conflict with Kyocera ppd

Asked by adair

I have a Kyocera FS-C5100dn laser printer connected over a wired network. Under Jaunty there were no issues. Under Karmic the printer produces a single page with four lines of stepped text giving postscript info. The workaround is to remove the lines of code in the ppd concerning trapping (beginning line 105):

*JCLOpenUI *JCLTrapping/Trapping: PickOne

*DefaultJCLTrapping: Medium

*OrderDependency: 5 JCLSetup *JCLTrapping

*JCLTrapping Off/Off: "@PJL SET KTRAPPING=0<0A>"

*JCLTrapping Light/Light: "@PJL SET KTRAPPING=1<0A>"

*JCLTrapping Medium/Medium: "@PJL SET KTRAPPING=2<0A>"

*JCLTrapping Heavy/Heavy: "@PJL SET KTRAPPING=3<0A>"

*JCLTrapping VeryHeavy/Very heavy: "@PJL SET KTRAPPING=4<0A>"

*JCLCloseUI: *JCLTrapping

With the above lines removed printing proceeds normally. I have not attempted to narrow it down further, but clearly there is something in Karmic that now conflicts with this part of the ppd, and it is a show stopper. Whether this is a bug, I don't know, but any suggestions for a genuine solution would be welcome.
