Need printer driver for Canon iP4600

Asked by ealthuis

Just installed a Canon Pixma iP4600, this printer is capable of automatic two sided printing (it works in XP). Is there in the universe a driver which will allow my printer to print both sides when attached to a Ubuntu 9.04 system?

See installation instructions here:

Here's more info about using your printer in Linux:

http://www.openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_IP4600

You can also try installing this gutenprint driver as well:

http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/debian/dists/lsb3.2/main/binary-i386/openprinting-gutenprint_5.2.4-1lsb3.2_i386.deb

And also run the following commands in a Terminal to install extra printer drivers::

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install openprinting-ppds-extra openprinting-ppds

Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the information provided, it turned out, that I already had the capability to print both sides, I just did not understand the terminology.
