trying to install Lexmark printer

What error(s) are you having exactly ? How is the printer connected ?

I don't get an error message. It just sits for awhile and then advances the paper without writing anything on it. The printer is connected to a USB port.

Is that with Dapper? Or a previous version of Ubuntu?

If it is Dapper, it sounds similar to the problem some of us have with the Lexmark z53:

It's Version 5.10 for PC.

Then your Ubuntu may differ from the very old and unsupported Ken, Ubuntu 5.10
