installing Canon MP620 components

Asked by ajkilroy24

Hi,

I am very new to linux and just installed Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty 64bit. I am trying to get my Canon Pixma MP620 to work but am running into a problem right at the beginning.

I have all of the components downloaded (cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb, ppdMP620-630en-1.5, etc.) but every time i try to install using the terminal i get this:

ajkilroy24@THE-BEAST:~$ sudo dpkg --force-architecture -i cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
dpkg: error processing cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
 cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb

I am 100% positive I have the components downloaded but I feel there is something very basic I am missing such as having the printer components in the wrong directory and therefore not visible when the system is trying to install them.

If you can help I would really appreciate it.

Wherever you have these downloaded files stored, you have to change directory to that location.

For example if they are on your Desktop, then use:

cd Desktop
