No driver for my Canon pixma MP240!!

I tried connecting to it locally and there were no drivers for this printer. Please get a driver for this printer.

I believe that ubuntu cannot officially provide drivers for cannon pixima printers - as it is the case for most printers.

Most of these printers operate on specifications that are very difficult to reverse engineer for linux programmers, and companies like cannon may hold patents as well on non-standard printer driver interfaces.

AS a result, printer drivers for linux are usually (selectively) provided by the company you bought your printer from. Keep in mind that this isn't very often yet, but support is growing!

Make sure to download the debian package of these printer drivers... debian is the linux version that ubuntu is based on, and you should be able to simply click on it and press "install".
