need lexmark 3200 printer to work with ubuntu

Am new Ubuntu user with a Lexmark 3200 colour printer(non-USB) and although Ubuntu recognizes the printer and allows printing,there are no controls over settings like darker,colour,alignment,cleaning,etc. so all copies come out in faint gray only.No control features.New print cartridge installed with same results.Any ideas?

HI! you could try System->Administration->Printers
It should open a small rectangular window with your printer "in" it, right click on it -> Properties
this should open a second window with a list on the left side there under "Printing options" you'll find BASIC and generic printer configurations such as paper, quality, etc...

I followed the suggestions(Thanks,Frederico) and found the list of controls.Unfortunately they don't seem to affect the operation of the printer and it remains gray.Any other options?

Lexmark 3200 remains in gray print as suggested controls seem to have no effect.

thats wired, I was doing a little internet research to help you with this (i have an hp lpt printer and i have a similar issue), and I found this in the openprinter section on the Linux Foundation they recommend a tweaked driver for the 3200

That last suggestion worked very well.Took me a while to figure out how to load the 'tweaked' version but it now prints fine.Thanks for your help.John
