Brother DCP-135C installation

Asked by David

Brother have sent Linux Drivers. The printer reports "receiving data" but then stops. Pressing the "scan" button resuklts in messag "communicating with PC" - but hen nothing!.
Printer drivers used:
/home/david/Desktop/Printer/dcp153ccupswrapper-1.0.1-1.i386.deb
/home/david/Desktop/Printer/dcp153clpr-1.0.1-1.i386.deb.

Brother have the following on their website:

# Pre-required Procedure (2)
    Related distributions
    Ubuntu8.04/8.04.1, Ubuntu8.10
    Related products/drivers
    cupswrapper printer/PC-FAX drivers
    Requirement
    1. "sudo aa-complain cupsd" command is required before the installation.
    2. "sudo mkdir /usr/share/cups/model" command (as it is) is required before the installation.

.... but as a newbie to Linux I have no idea where to start or if this is the problem. I'd be gratefuk for some help.

well they want u to perform those two commands beginning with sudo inside a terminal. so go to applications-accessoires-terminal and type them in, the terminal will then ask u for your password (while u type it u will not see it - don't worry about that), after thatu can close the terminal and double-click on the sent files u will then be able to install them.

if u might already installed them go to System-Administration-Synaptics search for those two packages and mark them for complete removal via right-click and then do the two requirements and afterwards install those files as mentioned above.
