Lexmark X1100 printer

I am a novice Ubuntu user. I am unable to get my Lexmark X1100 to print. I have tried Lexmark-1100-lm1100.ppd and Lexmark-X125-drv_x125.ppd. I get neither to work. CUPS seems pretty straight-forward. I go to install new printer. I select the ppd file (which is saved in "/home/printer tools/lexmark/Lexmark-X125-drv_x125.ppd" ) Then I print test page. I get message "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed"
Any solution?

Hi Mark.

You are a STAR!!!!!!!!!!!! My printer is working.
I have absolutely no idea what all the commands meant, but i followed them verbatim.
