Hello,

thanks for installing Ubuntu.

The resources about Samsung drivers include:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrintersSamsung (with a list of supported printers and status). The list may not be accurate because the ML-1710 is marked as unsupported (but works with driver for ML-1610). This situation may have changed since the last update of the documentation.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters/SamsungPrinters (specific information for installing the samsung printer driver).

I used to have the ML-1610 and I reached satisfactory results by letting Ubuntu auto-detect my printer and installing the suggested driver for me (no need for the samsung driver from the CD).
see for automatic detection: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/printing/C/printing.html

Hi

Use System > Administration > Printing. Click "New printer" and follow the instructions. The driver for your printer Samsung ML-1710 is included.
