Why http://localhost:631 rejects Ubuntu User Name and Password

When I try to use Administration to set up a printer at http://localhost:631, the site rejects my User Name and Password. How does it know how to check my login information any way? I am my Ubuntu system's Administrator and only user.

My problem was caused by my using the Ubuntu Account Name instead of the Ubuntu User Name.
