Please disconnect the printer, open the Terminal and run this comannds:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:michael-gruz/canon-trunk
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cnijfilter-common-3.70

(It would be best to copy paste the commands.)

Now the printer should be recognized. If not try to reboot.

thankyou Thomas. My problem isn't that the computer doesn't recognise the printer...it does. As I say when I go through the settings>printer business I get the little box that shows my printer (make model #) it searches for drivers etc. I guess to redefine my problem...I can't seem to find a driver for this printer.

The commands above will install the driver.

Can you help with this problem?
