Can't install Lexmark S305 printer

Using Ubuntu 11.10. Have a Lexmark Impact S305 Printer / Scanner. Have downloaded and installed driver package from Lexmark. Ubuntu "appears" to have installed it without reporting any problems. Recognises printer in system settings. But unable to print, or for that matter get any resonse of anything from either printert or computer. Computer is a Dell Dimension E310. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mothers' computer. She is a stroke victim and computer is often her outside link.

Did you download the files from the Lexmark website?
