Difficulties loading Canon PIXMA MG5300 series setup CD-ROM

can't run my installation CD-ROM for Canon PIXMA MG5300 series printer.

The CD is a windows driver which is of no value to you. Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

Your Canon PIXMA MG5300 is supported by the gutenprint drivers in Ubuntu:

http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php

Please copy-paste the following commands into the Terminal in Ubuntu:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install cups-driver-gutenprint foomatic-db-gutenprint gimp-gutenprint linuxprinting.org-ppds linuxprinting.org-ppds-extra openprinting-ppds openprinting-ppds-extra

Then use the Printer configuration interface to add the following printer and install the driver:

Canon PIXMA MG5300 bjc-PIXMA-MG5300 Canon-PIXMA-MG5300 EXPERIMENTAL
