printer that best works with ubuntu 10.04

i am running Ubuntu 10.04 can not seem to find a printer that is supported by this program i have a dell 948 and a Kodak 2170 nether one will work . what one is the best for my system

There is a deb file for 64 bit here
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cupsdriverkodak/files/
but it will only drive the ESP xxxx printers, not ESP Cxxx or Hero
otherwise there are ideas for 64 bit here

It is generally recognized that the printers with the best Linux support are HP.
