Dear Andrew,

rajasekarmain@rajasekar-pc:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release; uname -a
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 12.04 LTS"
Linux rajasekar-pc 3.2.0-23-generic-pae #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 22:19:09 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

This is the message i got in my terminal.

I have installed the LSB2900 printer drivers. But I have LSB2900 B printer. When I attempt to print the job the Status is processing always. No print out coming out.

If i check the status of the printer in the terminal by typing "captstatusui -P LBP2900" in terminal i got this message in separate pop up window

Message : Communication Error

Check the followings:
-Is the printer turned on?
-Is the cable correctly connected?

Now what I have to do to resolve this issue.

Please help me,

With regards,
Jothi

Some users posted they got this working in ubuntu 10.04.I have the same printer.I asked this to canon but no reply.The only reason i have to dual boot with windows.May be ubuntu staff should create some drivers,seems the only hope.

I was using the driver in Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10.
it was working fine.
but here it doesn't.

I hope we find some drivers for it soon.

I am also facing the same problem. I mailed to Canon for support and received a mail in response.

They say "This is in response to your mail regarding the driver for the mentioned version for your Canon printer LBP2900. Would regret to inform you that currently we don't have any support for the mentioned version."

 I hope they release a driver for the latest linux kernel.
