Pixma Canon MP620B, doesn't work at all

Asked by Owl

I've really combed the forums and Web about this issue. There are some alleged packages and drivers, but they are all worthless. At best, the configurations will recognize the printer is there on the network, but otherwise it does not function. Jobs will hang and never process. It didn't work in 11.xx, nor does it now in 12.04.

Did you grab the driver from the Canon site (if it exists)? They do make some Linux drivers...

I've tried the rackerua link before, it DOES NOT work. I've also tried the YouTube "answer":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubMoPdwm__8

It also does not work. Canon does not have linux drivers for this printer series. (or much any of their products). Works like a dream in Windows. Can't even so much as a test page in Linux all this time, even with recent upgrade to 12.04.

Try downloading the MP620 PPD files from <http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp610linux/files/>, then installing them by going to <http://localhost:631> in your Web browser (choose to add a printer and upload the PPD file when prompted to select a driver).
