How to install printer drivers for Canon PIXMA MP280 in Ubuntu 10.04?

i have a laptop with ubuntu 10.04 system and i can not get my canon mp 280 printer to sinc with it please any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

So the driver package gutenprint contains the printer driver for your printer.

The names of the gutenprint drivers are something like this:

gutenprint.5.2://bjc-MULTIPASS-MP280/expert Canon PIXMA MP280 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7
gutenprint.5.2://bjc-MULTIPASS-MP280/simple Canon PIXMA MP280 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 Simplified

Please copy-paste the following command into the Terminal to install the gutenprint drivers:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ijsgutenprint ijsgutenprint-ppds linuxprinting.org-ppds linuxprinting.org-ppds-extra openprinting-ppds openprinting-ppds-extra printer-driver-gutenprint

After that, you can use the standard graphical printer administration tools to set up your printer.
