12.04 Beta 1: Brother MFC8680dn only prints error msg

Asked by Bruce Stough

I have installed 12.04 Beta 1 with updates to March 12. When I plug the printer in it is recognized, and a driver is installed. When I attempt to print, one page is printed with the message:

ERROR:
invalidaccess
OFFENDING COMMAND:
length
STACK:

I have tried this on both my laptop (running the 32 bit version) and on my desktop (64 bit) with the same result. I had been running 10.10, with worked fine. The printer also works under XP.

I tried installing the LPR and CUPS packages from Brother, with the same result.

Did you install the driver from the Brother website?
I also suggest you report a bug, Precise is NOT ready and NOT stable

Yes, I had tried the drivers from the Brother site with the same result. I have filed a bug report (#953350). Thanks for your help!
