Did you check the Canon site for support. They do make deb files for some of their printers.

google "canon asia" or "canon europe". one or both of these sites will have linux drivers for your printer.

The gutenprint drivers should support your printer out-of-the-box.

Search for "gutenprint" in Ubuntu Software Center and ensure that cups-driver-gutenprint , cupsys-driver-gutenprint , foomatic-db-gutenprint , ijsgutenprint and libgutenprint2 are installed.
