How do I install hp officejet 4500 using ubuntu operating system?

Before I can download the software, I need to choose my operating system from a drop down menu but Unbuntu isn't listed.

The driver you need is part of the default OS. Just connect the printer and power it up.

HPLIP is also the driver for the scanner.

I did but this is a brand new all in one (scanner,printer,fax machine and copier).

Yes, it is supported by the HPLIP project as the link I gave states. Use the print dialogue and tell it to find Jet direct printers if the system does not find the printer. You do not need software as it is already installed.
