Trouble Installing Driver for Brother MFC-490cw Printer
I installed Ubuntu 11.10 over Win XP about two weeks ago. Everything is running smooth, including my wireless. The only thing I am having trouble with is getting the drivers for my printer installed. The printer wakes up when I try to print but nothing is printed and the print que is empty.
I down loaded the Unix drivers from Brother but the driver change application cannot open the Debian file. It has the wrong file extension....? Just doing the auto search doesn't find any drivers either. I tried to install them manually using some instructions from the Ubuntu website when I went looking for an alternative. But that did not work... or I needed to do something more.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
