Brother USB Laser Printer

Asked by ahambidge

Hello,

I am running 11-10 and am trying to install a Brother HL2150N USB Laser printer. This particular driver is not available in the Synaptic Package Manager. I downloaded the driver from the Brother web site but on trying to install get "driver defective" message.

I have contacted Brother and they just tell me to download the driver.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Regards,

Allan :)

Remove any printer you may have added and restart the OS. If needed, manually add the printer

Hello,

I tried to install the Brother DEB drivers by using the Ubuntu Software Center and got a message that said the drivers were defective. I then managed to install the drivers with the command lines supplied by Brother.

This installed the HL2150N printer but it will not print.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Allan :)

You don't need software centre. Just copy the whole text I gave and paste to a terminal. It will install ok.
