no canon mp250 printer driver for 11.04

Canon make linux drivers. Did you not check their site for support??

I downloaded the Linux IJ Printer Driver: mp250 printer dirver 3.40.tar, and when I click on the un-archived files cnijfilter-mp250series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz, the ubuntu software centre opens and tells me that: its not a software package.

Any Ideas what Im doing wrong?

ok then extract it and there are deb files in it. Install those debs

I click on: cnijfilter-mp250series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz the USC keeps telling me that its not a software package.
When I try it through terminal, I get:
Errors were encountered while processing:
 cnijfilter-mp250series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz

You want the
cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb file to be installed first, then install cnijfilter-mp250series_3.20-1_i386.deb

if you run:

tar zxvf ./cnijfilter-mp250series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz; rm ./cnijfilter-mp250series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz

Then cd into the folder, you will possibly see another folder to cd into, and so on until you see 2 deb files. You can then run:

sudo dpkg -i ./cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb; sudo dpkg -i ./cnijfilter-mp250series_3.20-1_i386.deb

And it will install the driver.

I was having the same issue with the MG5200 series.....try this out

change the cnijfilter to 250series, the post is from June maybe it will download in the repository pack...worked for me, just can't scan
