hp officejet j3680 quit working on ubuntu 8.04

running ubuntu 8.04 ona dell computer, printer was working fine, but, quit working recently. The only thing that I changed on the computer was to update as the updates came up. computer show the printer correctly and the print manager shows the jobs as done but printer does not work. I'am not knowledgeable about ubuntu but really like the operating system.

Hardy is no longer supported on the desktop, it is ONLY supported on the desktop. I suggest you upgrade to at least Lucid (which you can do in a single jump (LTS to LTS)).
