Printer installation

Asked by ContractorRon

This is the response to my attempt to install my printer drivers to make my printer work.

Can anyone help me? I'm a novice to Linux. Hate Windows and want an alternative.

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /tmp/DriverPerformer_V15-1.exe or

The message "...End-of-central-directory signature not found..." is shown when you try ro run a program that is for Windows on a Ubuntu system.

As far as I know DriverPerformer is a program that helps you identify device drivers for a Windows system. This program does not work on Ubuntu.

If you want to use a printer on Ubuntu, you have to use a printer driver for Linux; you cannot install the printer driver for Windows on your Ubuntu system.

If you tell us what make and model your printer is, we can help you find the correct driver.
