Windows Network printer won't delete

Asked by Jozua Judah

I have a windows shared printer that I want to delete but I am having trouble removing it from my print window. When I right click on the printer icon in the printer window the delete button is grayed out. I also tried deleting it via the terminal command line using sudo lpadmin -x HP-Officejet. Asks for my password then it seems like it deleted it but it is still their even after I do a reboot. If I run the function twice it just give me and error message saying after the first try which seems to do nothing anyway.

lpadmin: Unable to remove a printer from the class:
You must specify a printer name first

If the option "show printers shared by other systems" (system-config-printer → Server → Settings) is set, the printer will be shown all the time.

Thank you. That helped me solve the problem and I did get it to eventually be deleted permanently and create the a new share for the users to use without it displaying old share names.
