how do I delete a printer?

Asked by Patricia Schaller

I'm new to Linex and am having some problems. I had to buy a new printer and it prints well but when I try to print something from my email page (Hotmail) it looks like it's squashed the page vertcally and is printing the extreme right column (advertisement) over it. I 'm sure I have to set up the page differently but I can't find any instructions on how to do it.

Also, I can't find any instructions on how to delete the old printer from the system. Every time I want to print I have to change the printer.

Also, can you tell me how to adjust the size of the type? I can't find that one either.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. It is much appreciated.

System -> Admin -> Printers

You can manage printers there as you need

Run it in a terminal, copy the output and paste it here

I don't knowwhat you mean by "run it through a terminal". I'm not very computer savvy. Didn't have the darn things back in my day.

Hi Patricia Schaller,

actionparsnip mean is you have to type that command from terminal, which is located in Application menu, select Accessories, then you will see Terminal in there. Copy all the output from the command that actionparsnip gave to you in here.

To manage HP Printer settings, you can install HPLip Toolbox from Ubuntu Software Center. To launch Ubuntu Software Center, just click Application Menu, then you will see Ubuntu Software Center. Then on search box, just type "hplip toolbox" without quotes. Click install, and wait a moment until its finish. After that, you can use HPLip Toolbox (it is located in System Menu then select Preferences, you will see HPLip Toolbox there) to manage HP Printer.

Have a nice try..

Click on Applications (top left). Accessories, Terminal. At top edge of Terminal right click, then left click, Always on top. Highlight the line actionparsnip wants the output of. Left click. Click copy. Back to Terminal. Left click. Click paste. If it ask for your password, put it in, you will not see anything. That is OK. Press enter. This will speed things when actionparsnip gets back.

to delete your old printer, go to system>administration>printers then right click on the old printer and select delete

hotmail ads are very troublesome. they made it so the ads are always in your face. get the addon webmail ad blocker for your internet browser to block the ads. your emails should print normally after that.
