How to install printer drivers for Canon iP2702 printer in Ubuntu 10.04

Asked by Geoff Carritt

I have just purchased a cannon iP2702 printer, the printer will not work. Cannon do supply drivers for the 2700 series which i have down loaded but i am at a loss as how to install these drivers. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 I wonder if somebody can explain the installation process.

I couldn't find a drivers for this in either openprinting or the Canon site. Can you show us the link where you downloaded it?
What is the format of the file you have downloaded?

I had a similar problem with an IP90 Canon printer, which I could not make work on Ubuntu 09.10 and 10.04 and I eventually tried the Turboprint software, which worked perfectly at the first attempt. You may test it and if you are satisfied you have to buy it after a short test period.
Here is the reference of the question I posted on this forum : Question #111195 Printer Canon iP90 - Lucid Lynx 10.04
Here is the Turboprint web URL : http://www.turboprint.info/

Mark Rijchenberg, I deleted all canon drivers for my 2702 then reinstalled them and change the line you suggested in Install.sh and the printer worked like a dream, thank you.
