Need driver for Canon Pixma ip2600

Asked by Gary

I have a Canon Pixma ip2600 connected to a Windows machine. I can print from the Windows machine but I can not print from my Ubuntu machine.

The drivers for Canon Pixma ip2000 and ip3000 do not work.

Thanks for any help.

Did you notice this about your printer?
Requirements Windows 2K / Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows XP X64 / Windows
Vista64

You can try this also. First close printer then sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart Maybe it will detect drivers then.
Also this may do the trick.

I believe the problem is that the ip2600_debian.tgz files which contain source and drivers are compiled against cupsyslib2, which has been renamed to cupslib2 in 10.x. Someone should be able to edit the source to use the newly named code library and rebuild the drivers to use. In fact, that's precisely what I was hoping to find, but no luck so far. I'm having a hard enough time trying to figure out how to do this from the web ui for a server, let alone how to compile code for a printer drivers. If you have any luck, please spread the joy.

Can you help with this problem?
