10.04 suddenly dropped cups

Suddenly I can no longer print from ubuntu 10.04. There is no CUPS. Printer -- HP 932 inkjet -- works fine when I switch to Windows, so it isn't the machine itself. Some on-line advice says System -->Printing-->hit the NEW button. I have no NEW button.Thanks as always. Lee Templeton
