Printing pdf files

Asked by Anne Smith

I am not able to print pdf files though can print open office files fine. When I try, the print cue shows they are "processing" for a long time and never actually print. Is there something I can do to fix this issue?

Thank you.
Anne

Sometimes when I have similar problems--the image is too big for the printer or the .pdf has multiple pages, I use the application GIMP and open the .pdf (or import it) and save it (there may be many images for the separate pages packed in the .pdf) as .jpg's. Then I just print those after resizing to fit a print page. Image Viewer generally is what displays .pdf's in Ubuntu--but that's all Image Viewer does because it treats the document as an image.

(Adobe Reader in the Windows environment can "study" the .pdf to see pages, images and text. It also resizes to print properly.)

My wife gets a large weekly advertisement from a local store in .pdf format that fails to print properly. So I convert it .jpg's, resize them and then print each of the 4 images.

That's all I can suggest.

Can you help with this problem?
